Gigantography for a Escape Room

Map of the Baztan Valley (Navarre, Spain) that I designed for an Escape Room in the area

About the

Project

Client

Hiruko Baztan is the brainchild of three friends who decided to take the plunge and found their own company

Goal

For the decoration of one of their rooms, the client needed a map of the Baztan Valley. It was specified that it should have an aged appearance, and that it should show the logos of the US Army and the CIA. The dimensions of the map were 150*100 cm, so the final product had to be a gigantography, a document that could be printed in this format

The Final

Results

The texture of old paper in conjunction with the sepia-coloured filter perfectly achieves the desired aged and vintage effect. The area of the Baztan Valley is perfectly visible, and its 15 villages are placed in their exact position. The map legend is based on a real map. Summing up, another job well done

Quadrants

To make it more realistic, I downloaded some maps from the website of the National Geographic Institute (IGN). The maps are mapped by quadrants and the Baztan Valley is divided into four of them. That’s why to have a map of the valley I had to download the four quadrants and assemble them as if they were a puzzle, and in this way I got a map of the Baztan Valley
